Joseph “Joe” Parker and Wanda Evans met thanks to a move‑in and a moment of perfect timing.

The year was 1980. Joe was moving into an apartment on the 22nd floor when he noticed Wanda standing outside, checking him out. Wanda lived on the 19th floor, and Joe swears his “eagle eyes” spotted her instantly. Even more remarkable—when he finished unloading and looked again, Wanda was still there, in the very same spot, still looking up.

A playful back‑and‑forth followed about coming upstairs. Ready to take his chance, Joe sent a friend down to invite Wanda up. She said yes, marking the beginning of their friendship & love. While life has at times taken them down separate roads, Joe and Wanda have always found their way back to each other. 

​

Joe loves that Wanda is a peaceful woman—always has been, always will be. He admires her honesty, her truthfulness, and the way she carries herself with steady confidence no matter what. Wanda, in turn, loves that Joe is the same person through every season—even when times are tough and even when he “gets on my nerves.” And she happily admits she loves the way he looks—especially back when he played baseball and football and she couldn’t get enough of him in those pants.

They bond over music like Papillon by Chaka Khan and cozy nights watching Perry Mason, In Living Color, and most recently Beauty in Black.

From one shared glance between floors to a lifetime of love, Joe and Wanda are proof that sometimes, all it takes is looking up—and saying yes.
